Gail Landis had a 30-year career on Wall Street as an investor, a business leader, and an entrepreneur. From 2005 to 2011, she led all business development, marketing and client service for Evercore Asset Management, LLC – a multi-product small- and mid-cap U.S. equity firm that she cofounded as a joint venture with Evercore Partners (EVR). Prior to Evercore, her career included senior roles on both the investing and business side of the asset management business. She was head of Americas Distribution for Credit Suisse Asset Management, leading an 80-person team in both the institutional and retail businesses (2003 to 2005). From 1981 to 2002, Ms. Landis was with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., Inc. and its successor company Alliance Bernstein. Her 21-year career included a variety of roles as an equity analyst, a senior portfolio manager, and ultimately as a business leader of the firm’s institutional marketing and business development efforts.
Ms. Landis remains active in the investment community, working selectively advising endowments and foundations on governance and investment outsourcing. She is a Director of Morningstar, Inc. (NASDQ: MORN) and serves on the Audit and Nominating/Governance committees. Ms. Landis is a long-time member of the Investment Committee of the St. Mark’s School of Southborough, where she was a Trustee from 2003 to 2006. She recently completed her service on the Investment Committee of The David Rockefeller Fund (2019–2024).
Ms. Landis has a long history of nonprofit board service, including LaGuardia Community College Foundation Board (2016–2022) and the board of the Wood River Women’s Foundation (2017–2024), chairing the Governance Committees for both organizations. Ms. Landis is Chair, Emerita of Pro Mujer International, having served in several leadership roles, including as Board Chair from 2010 to 2017.
Ms. Landis graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in East Asian Studies and received an M.B.A. in Accounting and Taxation from New York University’s Stern School of Business. In 2024, she received a second B.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York in Russian and East Central European Studies.
