Description

In An Act of Defiance, film critic Anton Dolin turns his attention to the work of Iranian director Jafar Panahi. Nine of Panahi's ten films have been banned in his home country, and all ten have received awards at the world's foremost film festivals. Despite state pressure, Panahi has refused to leave Iran and continues to shoot new films.
