Киевский овраг Бабий Яр — одна из «столиц» Холокоста, место рекордного единовременного убийства евреев, вероломно, под угрозой смерти, собранных сюда якобы для выселения. Почти 34 тысячи расстрелянных тогда всего за полтора дня — 29 и 30 сентября 1941 года — трагический рекорд, полпроцента Холокоста! Это архетип расстрельного Холокоста, полигон экстерминации людей и эксгумации их трупов, резиденция смерти и беспамятства, эпицентр запредельной отрицательной сакральности — своего рода место входа во Ад. Это же делает его мировой достопримечательностью и общечеловеческой святыней. Такая планетарная трагедия, до сих пор, спустя 83 года, не получившая достойной мемориализации, по-особому вопиюща.
The Babi Yar ravine in Kyiv is one of the Holocaust's "capitals," the site of the largest single massacre of Jews, who were gathered there under threat of death, ostensibly for resettlement. Almost 34,000 people were shot in just a day and a half - that alone accounts for half a percent of the Holocaust! Babi Yar was the archetype for the shooting Holocaust, a proving ground for the extermination of people and the exhumation of their corpses, a seat of death and oblivion, and the epicenter of transcendent negative sacredness - a sort of entrance to Hell. That is what makes it a world landmark and universal shrine. It is particularly egregious that such a planetary tragedy has yet to be properly memorialized 83 years later.
