This is a story about refugees and their ordeals, about the volunteers who rushed to help them from all over the world, and also about ourselves and our attitude toward refugees. None of the people in this book were prepared to flee. They are successful, wealthy, professional people. None of them had even thought about it, and then it turned out that anyone can become a refugee — even citizens of the country whose army the refugees are fleeing.
