Ирина Машинская пишет стихи и прозу на русском и английском языках и выпустила пятнадцать книг, включающих стихи, эссе и переводы. В этом томе собраны стихотворения из девяти предыдущих сборников. Irina Mashinskaya writes poetry and prose in both Russian and English and has produced fifteen books that include verse, essays and translations. This volume gathers poems from nine earlier collections. Placed together, they show how her voice changes over time: the resonant, finely patterned language of her early work gives way to a more open, spoken manner in the 2000s, and later to lines marked by a thinner atmosphere and a quieter, strained rhythm. The title Geomorphology draws on her background in physical geography and signals her long-standing fascination with the formation of shapes—of land, of verse, of human connection, and of speech itself.
