Description

Komische Oper brings together stories about women whose lives were shaped by the upheavals of the twentieth century: revolution, the Soviet experience, emigration, and exile. A woman born before 1917, a Ukrainian woman encountered in Germany, a renowned composer who left Russia in the 1990s, and a mysterious stranger dressed in white—their stories evoke lives marked by memory, violence, and displacement. The novella Three Killers follows the fate of an ordinary Soviet woman, a mother crushed by a male-dominated society.
