Pavel Krisevich. Mertvaia Butyrka. Tel Aviv: Babel Books Tel Aviv, 2026.

Description

Performance artist Pavel Krisevich created this book out of his prison experience. He received a five-year sentence for an action on Red Square in 2021 and spent part of his term in Moscow’s Butyrka pretrial detention center.

The book collects his drawings of prison life along with fragments of text and sketches of people and everyday routines, made by the author from inside the system.
