The Even Side of the Fontanka Embankment is a collection of short autofiction and essays by Laima Anderson about family, home, emigration, loneliness and love. Describing the cities in which she has lived recently, listing the things and objects she brought or left behind, recalling the farewells - with people and places alike - she has experienced, the author reassembles herself and her world. Unable to physically return to St. Petersburg, Laima's semi-autobiographical protagonist returns to it again and again in her memories. Thus this abandoned city becomes the starting and ending point for these stories - a symbol of great love and irreplaceable loss. Laima Anderson is a writer, publisher, editor and co-founder/curator of shell(f), a library and writer's workshop in Belgrade. In 2018, Laima created a zine based on her trips to Georgia, my favorite story, in 2018, and a collective digital zine, objects, in spring of 2020.
