Успаміны Бэлы Шагал (у дзявоцтве Розэнфэльд) складаюцца з дзвюх частак — «Запаленыя свечкі» (1945) і «Першая сустрэча» (1947). Абедзве былі напісаныя на ідышы і выйшлі толькі пасля смерці аўтаркі. Кніга эмацыйна і вобразна расказвае пра дзяцінства Бэлы, яе знаёмства з Маркам Шагалам і адкрывае чытачу жыццё Віцебска канца ХІХ — пачатку ХХ стагоддзя, горада з багатай габрэйскай культурай. Па-беларуску публікуецца ўпершыню.

The memoirs of Bella Chagall (née Rosenfeld) consist of two parts — Zapalienyja sviečki (1945) and First Encounter (1947). Both were written in Yiddish and published only after the author’s death. The book tells emotionally and vividly of Bella’s childhood and her acquaintance with Marc Chagall, and opens up to the reader the life of Viciebsk at the turn of the twentieth century, a city with a rich Jewish culture. Published in Belarusian for the first time.
