Шаламов застрял, ничего не слышно. Давно должны были прийти из Лондона оттиски на корректуру, но нету. Он тоже чудак, как все они: уже вроде бы предъявлял претензии, почему не издают книгу и именно так, как ему хочется, – они совершенно не представляют себе нашего положения и думают, что тут денег куры не клюют и издать книгу ничего не стоит.
Shalamov is stuck, nothing is heard. The proofs should have come from London long ago, but they did not. He, too, is an eccentric, like all of them: it seemed that he already complained about why they did not publish the book and exactly how he wanted it – they do not understand our situation here at all and think that money grows on trees and to publish a book costs nothing.
