The latter has not deigned to answer several of my letters, including the one in which I asked him whether he would have any insuperable objections to the publication of A<nna> A<ndreevna> A<khmatova>’s poem: I came to the conclusion that it could really be published, provided all due precautions were taken, that is, if the poem was to be published without any comments or explanations, beyond mentioning that it was received and was being published without the author’s knowledge. I thought of publishing it either in Mosty or as a separate booklet, but I did not want to do so without getting a green light from Malia.
