LA GELATA di Abram Terz (Rizzoli, L. 2000).
Abram Terz è lo pseudonimo di un giovane scrittore sovietico. Come per un precedente romanzo breve (Compagni, Entra la corte, apparso nelle “Silerchie”), la trafila è stata clandestina. Il manoscritto è uscito inedito dall’URSS, ha raggiunto prima Varsavia e poi Parigi, dove è stato pubblicato per i tipi di “Kultura”, la rivista che rappresenta la corrente socialista dell’emigrazione polacca. Libro di difficile accezione, di impegnativa lettura in quanto il Terz, in contrasto con l’estetica dominante nella narrativa sovietica, crede in un’arte fantasmagorica «in cui il grottesco sostituisca la descrizione realistica della vita quotidiana».

Abram Tertz is the pseudonym of a young Soviet writer. As with his previous short novel (The Trial Begins, published in the “Silerchie”), its publication went through unofficial channels. The manuscript was smuggled out of the USSR still unpublished, it arrived in Warsaw and then in Paris, where it was published by “Kultura”, the journal representing the socialist wave of Polish emigration. A book of difficult connotations and a demanding read, since Terz, in contrast with the dominant aesthetic of the Soviet narrative, believes in a phantasmagorical art «where grotesque replaces the realistic description of the every day life».
