I am a CUNY BA interdisciplinary student majoring in International Literary and Cinema Studies, with a concentration in Russian literature. I am in my junior year at Hunter College and have studied twentieth-century Italian Women Writers, Film Theory, Russian Cinema, and the works of Vladimir Nabokov. I plan to continue my Russian studies by learning the language and studying nineteenth-century Russian literature in my remaining years within the CUNY BA program. My academic interests include women’s narratives and artistic expression within non-democratic regimes and portrayal of Russia and the former USSR republics in global cinema and literature. Participating in Tamizdat Project will allow me the opportunity to further explore Russian literature and its circulation abroad while engaging with the international academic community on this project.
