Mikhail Shishkin. Pismovnik. Riga: BAbook, 2025.

Description

In Mikhail Shishkin’s novel Pismovnik, at first glance everything is simple: he, she. Letters. A dacha. First love. But fate does not like simple plots. A sheet of paper in an envelope blows up the world, and the link of times is torn. The past becomes the present: Shakespeare and Marco Polo, the adventures of a polar pilot and the capture of Beijing by Russian troops. The lovers walk toward each other in order to bind together, with themselves, the broken time. This is a novel about mystery. About the fact that death is as much a gift as love.
